Seeing Social Media Marketing Beyond the Numbers

From foot traffic to web traffic and now, the number of Likes, Tweets, Mentions and +1s - marketing has always been and it seems, will always, all about quantitative metrics. Naturally, as the next frontier in digital marketing, a social media company is held liable to numerical key performance indicators.

The Social Media Black Market

Yes, social marketing has become number-obsessed that a SMM agency will do anything and everything just to meet the targets and to meet them fast. Just like how an unethical SEO practices came about to manipulate rankings (which of course, was later sacked by Google's Penguin and Panda updates), a black market in social media marketing is emerging where businesses can literally buy Twitter followers and Facebook likes. There are actually "dealers" of fake followers and they earn as much as $800 per day. With a few hundreds or thousands of dollars, your social network account can have the appearance of being the "It" thing.

So, what will push a social media company to fake social stats for a business? There are three strong theories:

1. Herd mentality. Similar to the bandwagon effect, businesses are thinking that if netizens see that a brand is getting a lot of following, they will follow it too.
2. Popularity. Everyone revels in being the "homecoming queen" of social network.
3. Faceless spamming. I will flood you with my brand's messages, but I am not real, so who are you going to blame?

So, before envying your competitors who have hundreds of thousands in social following, ask yourself: is this real or is it too good to be true?

In Social Networks, Is there really Power in Numbers?

While the size of your social community is significant and to be perfectly candid, the easiest, most practical and convenient way to measure success, social networks at their very core were not built for this purpose. These platforms were meant to engage people in conversations and dialogues. More than the number of Likes or Tweets, a SMM agency should focus more on the level of engagement. Ultimately, it should not be an either-or situation - you should target for both community size and level of activity. However, your social following should be real, not manipulated, not forced, not paid, and not doctored.

Social Media and Search Engine Optimization

Most definitely, social network has an effect on search engine optimization. However, Google and the other search engine giants have not disclosed the specifics on how exactly they use these so-called social signals in their rankings - or at least not just yet. There are talks that Google+ will now be indexed in search engine results pages and there are even speculations that Google+ Local pages will appear as annotations in search results. However, as for how the number of Facebook fans and Twitter followers affect rankings, no social media company to date can explain how these stats specifically boost a site's search engine performance.

Look Beyond Quantity

When used properly, social networks are powerful tools in promoting a business or a brand. In doing so, a SMM agency should keep in mind that these channels were built for people to get together and build meaningful online relationships with the relevant individuals or parties, not really to get millions of followers.

Why Good Web Design And Search Engine Optimization Are Now The Best Weapons Against Competitors

As everyone knows, there is no aspect of existence or life that constantly remains the same, and this applies to absolutely everything from hairstyles, fashion, films, music and dance trends, etc, etc,.

For example, as regards fashion, no young girl these days would contemplate wearing the restricting tight waisted garments favoured by their ancestors several generations ago. Today women prefer their clothes to be comfortable as well as suiting their general appearance. Even the most high powered women in business dress very much like their male counter parts by wearing a dressy jacket and a pair of trousers rather than a close fitting and uncomfortable dress.

Taste in music has always been in a state of change from the big band sounds right through to rock and roll to today's very popular rap music whose lyrics mainly depict every day life as experienced and envisaged by the composer who is usually also the vocalist.

The changing face of life in general relates just as much to business life. If a self employed person, managing director etc, etc, remains within the same business pattern year after year with his head still buried in the same sand, he will quickly be left behind by his competitors who have adapted to such things as new ways of conducting the affairs of his company, more modern technology, and so on.

This keeping up to date with a fast changing business world applies very much to the method that a firm uses to advertise the goods or services which they offer.

No matter how small or large a company is, it has to place the brand and message before any potential customer.

It is really only companies who have front window shops on high streets that can hope to attract customers without resorting to advertising. Even they however could enhance their profits by advertising. Until a few years ago, many companies including insurance, finance, etc, etc, spent millions yearly in newspaper adverts, but gradually these adverts stopped working as well as they once did due to the computer age.

Now the majority of consumers like to pass a lot of their leisure time on the internet, not only to play games, to interact with their friends to enjoy music and videos, but also to buy groceries, a property abroad, to arrange insurance, a loan or a mortgage to book a holiday etc, etc,.

A massive amount of goods, services, and so on are conducted solely on websites on the internet, and this means that it is essential for businesses to have the best website available. To achieve this they must consult a web services provider to discuss their requirements as regards the best web design to sell their goods, and how best to optimize their website in order for the site to be visible to as many consumers as possible. A good web design followed by search engine optimization is by far the greatest advertising tool there is, and by spending money in good search engine optimization is the best weapon against competitors. Getting a company you can trust to carry out your SEO will rank your website much higher on the search engines, and therefor increase your profits, and as such it is money worth spending and the best return on investment that any website owner can make.

Search Engine Optimisation Is a Perpetual Force in Your Business - Keep It Going Today!

Is it really enough to focus on SEO just once or twice? In today's competitive search engine world, definitely not! Indeed, you have to focus consistently on SEO all of the time. If you aren't thinking about SEO around the clock in terms of your marketing strategy online, you're going to eventually get left behind. There are always other sites that are doing what they can to push past you in terms of rankings in the search engine results pages. In fact, the more competitive your keywords are, the more work that you're going to have to do. You don't want to try to worry about who is coming up after you, but you also want to raise your site's profile.

If you aren't handling your SEO needs consistently right now, then you definitely want to start doing so today. Even if that means that you have to contract the work out to another firm where that's all they do for their clients, then that's what you might want to think about doing. The reason why is that search engine optimisation can truly be a perpetual force in your business, as long as you choose to keep it going.

Think about it -- just because you aren't consistently handling your SEO needs doesn't mean that visitors aren't using search engines like Google, Yahoo, and Bing in order to find information. What if you could get more visitors to check out what your site is about? You should already have plenty of compelling content for the visitors to look at. However, even if you don't have this currently, there's nothing that says that it has to stay that way forever. Many SEO companies also hire content writers for this reason. They can look at the type of content your site would need and then generate exactly what you're looking for. This is also a cost effective way to get what you need without having to retain permanent staff for this purpose.

If you're worried about the cost of outsourcing SEO, don't worry about it. SEO prices are based on the complexities of the project. So if you have some straightforward keywords that you want to add into the mix, you're not going to be paying as much as someone else that has much more difficult keywords to rank for. You may also get a discount if you decide to go with a recurring agreement for a certain number of months. Not only does this save you some money, but it can make it much more automatic to maintain your SEO work. Think about it from a different way -- do you really want to ramp up your SEO holdings, only to watch them sink again?

It's a perpetual force in your business for a reason. It moves your business forward as long as you tend to it. The mistake that many business owners make is that they try to only do it for a little while, and then go back to handling it themselves. They never really keep up with the project, so it ends up being something that falls to the wayside. Don't make this mistake, and you should be just fine -- good luck!

For any business, it has now become imperative to have a website of their own. And with more and more websites coming up every day, search engine optimization has gained serious importance. Visit Rank First to know more.

Should You Be Doing SEO Marketing?

As a webmaster, you will consider doing SEO and creating a complementing SEM channel so as to get the highest ROI within the shortest time. A cash strapped webmaster concentrating on SEO should reinvest revenues into SEM in order to create a sustainable business. Some of the things that you should do to improve the chances of success at SEO marketing include:

Invest in a search engine friendly theme - Successful SEO marketing entails finding a way to provide visitors from organic traffic and those from paid search with relevant information. Having a search friendly site will allow bots and organic traffic to easily crawl your site. Premium SEO optimized themes also tend to have better aesthetics that will allow you to market a product without irritating organic visitors.

Do proper keyword research - In order to succeed in your SEO marketing, you need to find out which keyword result in the most conversions from either channel i.e. SEO and SEM. You should then implement these results in your entire SEO marketing strategy. For instance, look for non-buying high volume keywords to use for SEO instead of wasting resources on them for paid search. This entails working with keyword research tools, website analytic tools and looking through a website's traffic logs.

Look for incoming links - You'll find that success at SEO marketing is usually seen with websites on aged domains with a lot of inbound links. This therefore means that you should spend a substantial amount of your resources to get these incoming links. You can do this by buying high quality content, buying text links from high traffic sites, submitting your site to reputable directories etc. This is because most search engines tend to award better click through rates for established domains as opposed to those designed to sell a particular product.

Do a lot of split testing - SEO marketing is mainly about finding a way to accommodate two distinct types of website visitors; those looking for information and those looking to buy something. This therefore means that your copy in the home page should contain enough information to cause visitors to accomplish a predetermined action e.g. buy a product, take a survey etc. You have to use various tools to find out which combination of copy and media result in the most sustainable marketing campaign.

Use only reputable search engines - You should only concentrate your SEO marketing efforts on the most popular search engines e.g. Google, Yahoo, Bing, Ask etc. This is because they usually have the largest market share of internet searchers and also have self-serve ad platforms. This will therefore make your SEO marketing efforts more pointed because you'll be in a better position to uncover niches due to the high traffic. It will also be easier to trademark keywords therefore allowing you to develop a sustainable business from your marketing efforts.

In a nutshell, SEO marketing is the best way to create a sustainable online business since you'll be looking for ways to increase revenues and traffic from all available sources.

Is your website's lack of traffic making you want to tear your hair out? I know exactly what you're going through. I almost went bald before I found out the secret to getting traffic. Doing Blog Commenting Post Penguin Can Still Be Rewarding

Influence Your Company's Exposure With The Right Domain Name

Whether or not a domain name really makes that a large difference in getting good SEO results has been a hot topic of debate for a length of time. Some say it is essential, and an internet title or 'handle' should be the same as the business, organization, or person; others feel the opposite way, that it is possible to get results through other optimization methods.

While there is truth in both sides, common sense dictates that any group would want their URL to be as relevant to the actual work accomplished with the website as possible. Having a relevant internet address is not only essential in terms of brand recognition; it is a vital part of a successful optimization plan. The big question is, what is the best name.

A Good Domain Name

A good domain URL has a few properties that can be very important to any website or organization. Brand recognition is always something to consider since it makes it easy for a searcher to simply type a business name into a browser to find that company. Some good site titles can be created to include high-ranking keywords as well, though something that is easy to remember is the important key.

Benefits

The most benefit is provided by the most memorable names that do include key words. Being able to pick one that somehow includes both the company title and a keyword is best. Any new business should consider this before even finalizing a business name. If the domain combines both brand identity and keyword, that's the best choice as search engines will be able to easily index the site. This will increase the chance that customers will remember the site and easily return to it by simply typing the company name into any search engine and receive the best results for keyword searches.

There are other aspects of how domains get indexed and viewed by search engines, including how long the name has been around. Newer sites get less attention; this can sometimes be improved by better use of keywords in the domain or by increasing exposure in other ways such as using PPC ads, engaging heavily in social media, and trying to increased use of quality back links to name a few.

Hindrances

The main ways that a poorly chosen domain title hurts any website is by working against the optimization process and by not seeming relevant. More visits will probably happen to "Widgets by Bob" than to "best-widget-source", even though the latter may do a fine business. Many different SEO methods work to gain website exposure; however, the first click is usually to the location that looks more professional in what is wanted.

The suffix or ending after the period plays a part in an efficient domain as well. Generally, sticking with top-level suffixes is always best: .com, .net, .org., and specific country derivatives like .us or .uk. Although pretty well controlled by the IANA, there are new ones showing up which can allow for preferred words or phrases already taken to be used; however, this can create confusion. The best idea is to stick with a top-level domain as search engines pay less attention to lesser levels.

Although it can be a little difficult, it is not impossible to find a great domain name - and it is fairly important as less desirable internet addresses can do well but will not achieve the same success long-term. Researching and brainstorming using keywords, business names and intended audience can help achieve such a goal. Be sure make a careful domain name choice, as changing that URL somewhere down the road is desirable at all. Coming up with the perfect URL may take some time; however, it is well worth the effort when found!

Why SEO Lets a Business Choose Who to Work With in the Future

A business that appears higher in the search engines is viewed as more relevant than those businesses that they outrank. This is because the search engines are always looking for the most relevant result on the search engines. People know this and they believe (whether or not this belief is true or not) is that the websites that appears the highest on the search engines is the most trustable website of them all (the ones that are on the search engine). Obviously, obtaining a high ranking on the search engines is imperative to many businesses. This one asset can make or break an business.

Therefore, a business that appears higher in the search engine gets a lot of traffic. This means that the business that appears highest on the search engine is probably a business that has a lot of sales volume. Sales volume allows a business to pick and choose jobs that they are certain that they can help instead of being forced to work with anyone who has a credit card and a plus. In fact, it is not a stretch to say that this is the worst way to do business because there are some customers that are toxic to the business. It is best to avoid these customers at all costs when a business can profitably say no to those types of customers.

Contrast this with companies with little sales volume, the companies that have a much smaller sales volume have much less of a chance of saying no to any client that calls them to do some work. This means that they have to take the demanding clients and help them because they have no other choice.

The truth about this situation is that the business that is lower on the SERPs is experiencing the runoff from the top company. Bad customers suck the fun and life out of a business and make the people inside that business want to quit. They are a major problem and the best way to fix that problem is to raise their ranking so that they have a waiting list and they can pass on bad deals.

Therefore, a business that decides to compete for the top spot is a company that is making a good decision. It is a good decision because the ability to pass on deals that do not make sense is an ability that every business should generate. A business that has sales volume is a business that can choose their clients carefully. This helps everyone in the business to feel better about their situation and the people they work with now and in the future.

Why SEO Is All About the Right Tools

SEO is a difficult thing to do. It is especially difficult if the user is trying to do SEO blind. This means that they have no idea if what they are doing is working and if they are even "moving the needle" at all. This is a major problem and why most people give up when doing SEO. They just do not have the right tools and this colors their whole experience when they try to optimize their web pages for the search engines.

Discouragement is one of the biggest problems that a business owner faces when using SEO to optimize their websites. Discouragement makes cowards of the strongest of business owners. They have every reason to be a coward, however. This is because the search engines do not make it easy to optimize for their respective web sites. These websites are notoriously tight lipped when it comes to releasing factors that help sites rank on their services. Therefore, a person (without the right tools) has a hard time figuring out if they are doing the right thing and if they should continue with the action in the future.

A person who understands SEO is a person who gets the right tools for the job. The right tools cost money, however. There are a slew of free tools; however, these tools usually do not do the work very well. They say that a person gets what they pay for, and in this case, it might be true. A person who uses free tools only gets a part of the story because they do not have enough functionality to get the full story.

The tools are everything in an SEO campaign because the tools give the campaign metrics that the person can use to gauge if their SEO efforts are working. These tools give the campaign a solid base to work from in the future and in the moment. It is very important to have these metrics because it tells a user what to do now and in the future. No decision can be made without these metrics.

The tools that a professional SEO needs are a keyword research tool, a search engine ranking checker, and a tool that measures the back link strength and pages indexed. These are the bare minimum tools that a person running an SEO campaign should have in their arsenal when running an SEO campaign. These tools help a professional SEO see what is happening in the site and what is going to happen to that site in the future.

SEO is all about the tools and how the search engine optimizer uses those tools in the future to make sure that the goals they have set out for the website are achieved. Therefore, a person who gets the right tools makes a lot more head way in the search engine results than any other person who does not take the time or money to buy the right tools.

Why Not Having a Social Media Strategy Is Internet Marketing Suicide

Social media can be perceived as all fun and games so it was initially difficult for businesses to see the value it can bring to their overall internet marketing strategy and how it can contribute in achieving its various objectives. Then marketers took the social networking leap of faith and many have experienced significant successes over the recent years.

Despite the number to prove its worth, the debate whether social marketing should be taken seriously won't just end. Included in social cynics' main arguments are:

• Posting Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, LinkedIn, Google+ updates cannot be considered a marketing skill. They argue that this can be done by anyone and everyone in the company and it does not really take someone with a marketing acumen to engage in social network marketing

• A social media marketing company cannot measure success and cannot deliver real and tangible return of investment

• Social platforms are not universal. They are suitable for some but not for many

These may sound like strong contentions, but here are the reasons why not having a social strategy is like a modern-day marketing suicide.

Promoting Businesses in Social Sites is Leveraging on Human Nature

Time and again, an old adage reminds us that no man is an island. Interacting with other people or entities such as brands and businesses is natural and instinctive. With that being said, every social media agency knows that it's not really the platform that matters, but this human nature that makes this form of marketing effective.

More specifically, "mingling" with customers has allowed businesses to improve their customer service and reinvent their products and services. Don't you notice how heirloom businesses (those enterprises that got passed on from generation to generation) still keep that warm practice wherein the owners themselves go around the shop or the stores asking what customers think? This later on evolved into structured market research. Being social is an important attribute for business to evolve with the times which is every social media marketing company is pushing to carve their place in the internet marketing sphere.

You're Depriving Your Business of User Generated Content

Statistics show that 25% of total web traffic of the world's biggest brand is user generated. This is something a social media agency simply cannot ignore. If Google and other search engines are now indexing social media content, why wouldn't you want to have them? Also, statistics show that people look to blogs, especially from key opinion leaders, whether to trust a product or service. It's also an effective feedback mechanism and no business can improve what they are presently doing without knowing what people think.

Social Media Has Evolved into Something Measurable

Marketing in social channels have evolved rather rapidly over the past few years. If before, businesses are going at it blind, a social media marketing company can easily offer metrics and measurable key performance investors for your investment. They bring traffic, increase engagement and contribute to conversion rates.

Clearly, social marketing is not all about fun and games anymore. It's serious business.

How Social SEO Works

Social Media and Search Engines have been considered as different entities. SEO is more concerned on how a site ranks while Social Media is a platform for people wanting to exchange ideas and conversation. Though both terms are different from each other, they both work very well when used together.

Search Engine Optimization focuses on how a site is ranked in search engines such as Google, Yahoo and Bing. SEO can be done using some of the oldest tricks in the book. These include article directory submission, profile links, web 2.0, and video sharing sites, and a lot more. Though there have been changes to how search engines view a site's ranking, the methods and ways how to optimize a site have also evolved throughout the ages.

How do social media affect SEO? Social media uses its different ways on how to share the content of your website. It easily disseminates the information on your website or your blog posts. It uses its constant viewers to send traffic directly to your site which in term boosts your site's visitors and authority.

Social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Interest, YouTube and other similar sites allow you to have a link going to your website. This can be used by people who want to find more information about a certain topic.

So how do you promote your site using this new link building method? The first thing you need to know is who your audience is. This can also help you filter sensitive contents in order to build credibility to your site.

The next thing you need to do is engage your audience. You can do this by allowing them to comment on your post or video. This will help your site in terms of feedback on how the site should look or how the content needs to be rewritten. Engaging your audience can also make them feel welcome on your site and thus a chance for them to share your post or site to other sites.

The most important thing you need to know while using social media in SEO is to provide quality content. Your site can be well designed but without quality content which keeps visitors coming back for more, your site would most likely not be in the ranking you are expecting.

There are still a lot of new strategies as to how social media can help webmasters in doing SEO. Some methods are still under case study due to the recent changes on how search engine ranks websites. Ranking your site can be quite hard but if you have what the visitors are looking for and you are providing it in decent way then you have no problems seeing your site ranked 1st soon. Just remember to continuously provide high quality contents that your readers want and to work hard in ranking your site. You won't see any changes immediately, but if you strive to create quality links and contents, then you should have no problem seeing your site ranked 1st sooner or later.

Google Webmaster Tools - Part 2

We have discussed various important functionality of Google webmaster tools in my previous article. But, webmaster tools are having plenty of other stuffs as well in their bag other than those discussed in previous section. We talked about messages from Google, setting geographic target location, selecting preferred domain, limiting crawl rate, and removal of sitelinks.

Now we will discuss some other important uses of Google webmaster tools:

- URL Parameters: This feature has its importance when Google bots are experiencing some problem while crawling your site. If you are having dynamic URL's or you are having an e-commerce website, then this problem is very often to occur. Due to dynamic nature of URL, it is quite possible that more than one URL's are having same content, which causes duplicity and is a bad sign for your site to rank in search results. So, to avoid such problems you must ensure that all the URL's with same content have been properly redirected to specific URL.

- Change of Address: If you move your website to some other domain, then this feature enables you to tell Google about this. You also have to verify ownership of the new domain, so that Google can believe that both the domains are of same owner. Also, you should put appropriate redirects for all the pages individually rather than putting a single redirect to new site.

- Crawl Errors: This section will show all kind of errors to the webmaster which Google bots encountered while crawling the site. It will show the complete list of URL's for which error occurred while opening them. These errors can be any of the 404, 403, Server errors, soft 404 errors, or any other with respective dates and priorities.

- Crawl Stats: This application enables you to see the statistics regarding how frequently or how many times bots crawl your site per day. Also, it mentions the amount of data downloaded from your site per day and time spent in downloading that data.

- Blocked URL's: If you want certain URL's of your site not to be crawled by Google bots, then you can mention the same in a notepad file called robots.txt file. In this section you can see the complete list of URL's which are disallowed by you to be crawled by bots.

So, these were some very central and important usages of Google webmaster tools for a webmaster. But, it's not the end; there are some other features as well which we will discuss in our next section of article. See you soon.

The author has been writing articles from last three years on various topics. With this article, he wants to share information on how Google webmaster tools are an important concept of Search Engine Optimization.

Why Social Media and SEO Are Becoming More and More Linked

Social media and SEO are beginning to look more and more like each other each day. This means that SEO is taking on more and more characteristics of social media every day. This is not to say that SEO is turning into social media marketing where people communicate with each other on some sort of SEO network. However, it does mean that social network marketing is beginning to affect SEO in big ways.

Social media has a major effect on SEO. This is called "social signals". The search engines have learned that those businesses that have people talking about them on the social networks are more relevant than those businesses that do not have anyone talking about them at all. They used to use links for this purpose, however, they have found that they get better results by following the social media systems.

Some major search engines have even taken it upon themselves to develop social media systems for this purpose. Although many of these systems have failed, they have left the social signals up that relate to sites. This means that the businesses that get those social signals connected to their sites are businesses that have better rankings. The search engines trust themselves the most; therefore, if a person has the opportunity to get social signals from the system in question, then they should get those signals as soon as possible.

The trick is to get people to click these social signals. This is because most people will read the material but not click the share button. This is because information must be truly unique and interesting for people to share it. This means that some SEO is still needed. It is like asking what came first, the chicken or the egg. Obviously, for someone to share or "like" a post, they have to find it first. Therefore, a person has to advertise their post before it will work at all.

At any rate, social media marketing has become a major component of SEO for better or worse. Those companies that join their SEO efforts with social media marketing will have a better chance of making money and getting search engine rankings than those businesses that do not have any type of social marketing campaign.

The truth is that a business needs to run both campaigns concurrently or not have any results at all. A business that has a social campaign shows that they have relevancy to the search engines. Therefore, a link building program is good, but getting social signals that back up those links is a good thing to have as well.

In the end, the best idea is to have both systems running. This helps a site build authority and a website that builds authority is a web site that does well in the search engines and on the social media spheres. Difference Between the On-Page and Off-Page SEO

SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is a process of improving the rank of a web page in the SERP of target search engines for a set identified key phrases. There are two phases of any SEO work. One is On-page and Off-page SEO. On-page SEO relates to the factors on the web page itself that determine its rank in search engines. These factors are done on the site to make the site more search engine friendly and if the on-page factors are effectively done over the site, then the site gets crawled faster by the search engine spiders.

• In an On-Page factor the "Header Tags" have their own importance as they are the things which get crawled first and at the time of their crawling the keywords inside the header get crawled and the search engine gets to know about the content of the site.

• The image alt tags also have the importance as Google do not crawl images then by giving the proper alt tag we make Google crawl the image.

• Meta tags (Title, keywords, and description) are the on-page factor which can be viewed by anyone going on the site and right clicking on the page and click on view source. But while defining the tags on the page one need to keep in mind that the title should not be more than 70 characters, keywords should not be more than 120 characters and the description should be around 150 characters so that when you find your keyword on the SERP then the whole description should be visible over there.

• The content written on the site should be optimized and keyword rich.

There are many other factors which are to be taken care while doing the on-page factor of a website. But the Off-page SEO covers the major area of link building. In this link building technique we make the backlinks to our website and due to that we can get a good ranking on the search engine page and get more amount of traffic. But it only happens when the link made are of Quality and are relevant to your site. It also depends on the behavior of the user after logging on to your website. If he just watches and leaves it without clicking on any page, then it increases the bounce rate of your site and your site can rank low on the SERP.

The evolution of social media techniques is also helpful in the Off-page SEO as the social media is one of the most easy and most helpful method to advertise for your site and get visits through it. There are various other factors which are to be taken care will be discussed in the next phase.
