Page Title

Page Title is nothing but the title of every blog post or a web page. Your page title must not be duplicated or copied from others. Page Title is the first thing that any search engine will look for. Usually page titles will tell entire topic of the web page.

It's suggested to include your main keyword in the page title, for best results.

Keyword Research

First one is keyword research. Every website is based upon certain topic. Keywords are list of those words that relate to your sites content. You must complete thorough research on which keywords to include in your content, before even starting to think of what text you're going to put on your page or pages.

Keyword Density

This on-page technique is also regarding keywords. Your content must contain right amount of keywords in every webpage. If you are stuffing pages with unnecessary keywords then Google will never rank you! So be careful with keyword density.

Site Structure

Site structure can also be called as site architecture. Your site architecture must represent the market you are trying to target. However to overcome this by focusing on creating good content for your website.

Keywords

These are the words or phrase that people type into a search engine. Understanding what keywords people use to search for your product or service and then optimising your site so that it ranks high for these keywords.

Bear in mind though that the most effective keywords are not always those that are the most searched for. Often highly searched terms will have a lot of competition, so you're never going to rank on page 1 of Google for them or are so broad that you will get a lot of irrelevant traffic to your site that's never going to convert.

So being sure to pick the correct keywords for your site and content is vital.

Keyword density

This is the number of times a keyword or phrase appears on a web page, compared to the total number of words on that page. The higher that proportion is, the higher your keyword density, and up to a point, the more likely you are to appear high up in the search engines for that particular keyword.

Link building

The process of getting other websites to link to yours. These amount and quality of links to your site will affect how well ranked your website is in the search engine ranking. In simple terms, the more links you have, the more likely you are to appear higher search engines.

Anchor text

This is a term for the words contained within a link which are clickable. Anchor text has a effect on SEO so it's best if anchor text contains the keywords you're optimising for e.g. The link, Web Design Burton will be much more valuable than the link, SmarterWays. You should pay attention to the anchor text on links on your own website, as well as on other websites.

Spider

This is a program that automatically finds web pages and tells search engines about them. Search engines couldn't work without spiders, so it's essential to SEO that your website is built in a way that is spider-friendly, so they can read the content on your site.

Organic search

This is the listings on search engine result pages that are not paid for, and that appear purely because of their relevant to the terms searched for. Advertisements or sponsored links on Google for example, would be classed as paid links.

Pagerank

A score given to a web page by Google. When Google was founded, one key innovation was PageRank, a technology that decides the "importance" of a web page by looking at what other pages link to it, as well many other contributing factors. Today Google use more than 200 factors, including PageRank, to rank websites.
